Reading Through The Bible: Number 16
I’m backing up to Genesis chapter 2 briefly this morning as a great thought occurs to me. When God created the heavenly bodies and when He spoke the animals, fish and birds into existence, He did it by SPEAKING them into existence. However, when He created man, He
“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” (verse 7)
Having made the perfect environment for His earthly friend, He sculpts him from the dust of the earth. Then He draws so near that He actually breathes the breathof life into him and man becomes a living soul. From this verse, it becomes apparent that God designed and desires a personal connection to mankind. When Jesus came to pay the penalty for your sins and mine, God’s word says that He was to be called “Emanuel” which means“GOD WITH us.” And in the last book of the Bible, this desire of God to be WITH us is spelt out so clearly by the Apostle John! Have a look:
Revelation21:1 “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is WITH men, and he will dwell WITH them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be WITH them, and be their God. 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be anymore pain: for the former things are passed away.”
What a privilege it is to know this wonderful Creator and to have Him invite us to abide with Him today.
Have a great Sabbath with “the Lord of the Sabbath.” (Mark 2:28)
