Reading Through The Bible: Number 18
In yesterday’s post from Genesis 4 about Cain and Able, I neglected to mention how God had seen Cain’s rising resentment against his brother and had come to him with a special message. It is found in verse 6: “So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? v7. If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”
As we endeavour to walk in harmony with God in our life today, it’s nice to know that we have a Father who is aware of “where we are at” in that walk. He knows what “pushes our buttons” and what causes us to act in ways that could lead us to break our connection with Him. The long and short of success in the Christian walk is this: Jesus knows the way through life and has communicated it to us through His word, the Bible. He
Have a great day!
Post Script:
Genesis 4:16 has an interesting statement that I am prompted to comment on this morning. Here’s what it says:
“Then Cain went out from the presence of the LORD and dwelt in the land of Nod on the east of Eden.”
Firstly, There are many today who have exercised their God-given freedom of choice to go “out from the presence of the Lord” to live quite independently of Him. I once did myself. I didn’t one day decide that I wasn’t going to stay connected with God. I just became absorbed in “stuff” that was surrounding me as a young man, and soon forgot that God was any more interested in me than I was in Him. For ten years I drifted in the stream of the world and almost 60 years later I still carry the scars from the wounds “the world” inflicted on my spirituality.
Like Adam and
If you want to live life to the full, NEVER “go out from the presence of the Lord!” If you find that God is just not real to you anymore, here’s the way back:
“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD…”
Tell God you’re sorry and ask Him to take control again. Life is GREAT in the presence of the Lord!

Have a great day in the presence of the Lord!
