Reading Through The Bible: Number 29
Before we leave the Bible account of the flood, there are some lessons we need to fix in place in our minds.
1. The majority are seldom right when it comes to things pertaining to God and that which is right! In the days of Noah, only EIGHT people took advantage of the place of safety God provided for them.
2. God gave a period of probation for men and women to acknowledge their rebellious way and return to an obedient relationship with Him. The period of time was not negotiable.
3. The sins that caused the destruction of the old world are gaining in popularity and frequency today. The fear of God has disappeared from man’s thinking and His commandments are treated with complete contempt.
4. There is a popular teaching abroad today that there will be a thousand years of peace before the coming of Jesus, during which the whole world will be evangelized and saved by a converted Jewish nation. The truth about the condition of society at the coming of Jesus is as Timothy warns us in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” (Wow! That is today’s TV news!!)
5. It takes stoicism and strength to stand for God amid mockery and false teaching.
6. Those, and only those, who remain loyal to God will be welcomed into the kingdom of God when probation closes and Jesus comes to redeem His people.
Have a great day!
