Reading Through The Bible: Number 31
I’m sure you’ve noticed that Spring has arrived on time again in the past few days! Did you realize that that was a fulfilled promise from way back in Genesis 8? As God promised never to destroy all flesh from the world by flood again, He added this promise:
“While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease.” Genesis 8:22
Here’s a poem that might put a new light on Springtime for you:
To stand there by the graveside of one who lived for God
And see the workmen put in place the last remaining sod
Turns my mind again to victory and my heart begins to sing
As again I pause to ponder the power of God in spring
The trees that looked quite dead such a little time ago
Have now begun to come alive and green tips start to show
The whole creation’s feeling new and there’s life in everything
And I just stand in awe again and see God’s power in spring
Beauty just surrounds us as if the flowers seemed to know
This season’s for rejoicing and they just have to grow
The very sweetest colours and perfumes for the King
To help His children see again the power of God in spring
And though sadness we encounter in this old world of sin
Just endeavour to remember that spring-time has a twin
For in the new creation when the choirs of Heaven ring
We’ll know what God was teaching us as we saw His power in spring
For there, we’ll see the fruitage of a life of patient toil
Our loved ones & our trophies, where sin can never spoil
Of sadness, grief & sorrow we shan’t recall a thing
But I’m sure that we’ll remember the power of God in spring.
