Reading Through The Bible: Number 35
In Genesis chapter 12, God did to Abram, what he does to all His earthly children. He called Him into a relationship with Himself. When people respond in an attitude of loving obedience, as Abraham did, God says to them what He said to Abram in verses 2,3: “… I will bless you and make your name great, and you shall be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you…”
To faithful Abram, He added another promise: “In you shall all the families of the earth be blessed!” History reveals how faithful God was to this promise to Abram. (whose name God later changed to Abraham) It was through the family line of Abram that Jesus was born and the way to salvation from sin and its penalty was revealed. Every person who has since found his way to God’s family has come through Abraham’s family line (via his descendant Jesus).
Everywhere Abraham travelled he set up an altar and demonstrated his faithfulness to His heavenly Friend. Do you have a personal friendship with God my friend? Do you demonstrate that faithfulness in all your actions? It is a relationship that grows and develops as we live to honour Him by blessing those around us. Strive to be true to God and kind to others today and they will see Jesus through you! I fail often but my faithful Friend keeps chiselling away the rough corners, and serving others becomes more enjoyable as the years go by.
Have a great day!
