Reading Through The Bible: Number 63
As I read through the Bible day by day it becomes clear that the themes presented there are inexhaustible! There are so many directions we could allow our thoughts to take in searching out the thoughts of God, and each direction could be so beneficial!
As we read and think about the messages there, it is important to keep at the forefront of our thinking the rebuke given by Jesus to the religious leaders of His day. He said: “You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. 40But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.” (John 5:39)
“Coming to Jesus” means accepting Him as Lord of our life! Coming to Jesus means leaving our own plans in the dust and accepting by faith, that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life!
The Word of God is such a complete guide for salvation through Jesus and so incredibly helpful in building a character that is pleasing to God. And yet so many approach the Bible with pre-conceived ideas that are not made subject to His plainly revealed directives, and so they miss the point that God would have them see.
As I read this morning about Rebekah’s feeling that all is not well with her pregnancy, I’m encouraged that down through the ages there have been those who turn first to God for answers to question that men can’t give them. It simply says: “Rebekah his wife conceived. But the children struggled together within her; and she said, ‘If all is well, why am I like this?’ SO SHE WENT TO INQUIRE OF THE LORD.” (Genesis 25:21,22)
When we are perplexed and troubled about anything life brings us, it’s always best to “inquire of the Lord!” Have you inquired of the Lord today? Have you asked Him to abide with you today and show you how to handle the challenges you’ll meet? I’ll be working with the bees today and I expect that there will be more than one painful episode because I choose to be in their company. But I choose also to be in the company of Jesus today and I know that will be a sweet experience! Sweeter than honey!!
Have a great day!
