Reading Through The Bible: Number 66
A lighter post seems to be in order today.
I was woken in the early hours with the thought that it was time to write another song. When I asked the Lord what I should write about, I was impressed with the thought that it should be about what really makes a person happy!
So where do you go to find the real answer to that question? Where else!! Here are some of my early discoveries from the Bible this morning – it may take a few days for them all to start to settle into some form and rhyme:
“Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects; therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty.” Job 5:17
“Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God,” Psalms 146:5
“Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding; For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, and her gain than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies, and all the things you may desire cannot compare with her. Length of days is in her right hand, in her left hand riches and honour. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.” Proverbs 3:13-17
“He who despises his neighbour sins; But he who has mercy on the poor, happy is he.” Prov. 14:21
“He who heeds the word wisely will find good, and whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he.” Prov. 16:20
“Happy is the man who is always reverent, but he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity.” Prov.28:14
“Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects; Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty.” Job 5:7
“Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God.” Psalms 146:5
“Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding; For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, and her gain than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies, and all the things you may desire cannot compare with her. Length of days is in her right hand, in her left hand riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.” Proverbs 3:13-17
“He who despises his neighbour sins; but he who has mercy on the poor, happy is he.” Proverbs 14:21
“…whoever trusts in the LORD, happy is he!” Proverbs 16:20
“Happy is the man who is always reverent,” Proverbs 28:14
“Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but happy is he who keeps the law.” Proverbs 29:18
So it seems that real happiness is not to be found is a round of exciting engagements that leave you weary and jaded, but rather in quieter pursuits that seek out God and emulate the life of His Son by helping those around us! I like that!!
Have a great day!
