Reading Through the Bible: Number 7
Yesterday morning as I read through the Bible account of creation week, I commented briefly (or asked a question) about the effect of not having a foundation of belief in God – especially on youth who are going through a time of questioning and doubting as they search for meaning in life. This morning I think it is important to answer my own question a little.
The question was: “Does this answer the question many have about the hopeless attitude of many young people who seem to have no hope?” I strongly believe so. If we are all here because of some cosmic accident, then life is without the real purpose for which we were designed. If there is nothing beyond the grave and there is no one to answer to, and if life became incredibly painful and lonely, I can understand the reasoning that leads may young people to suicide.
HOWEVER, IF there is a God and IF He has a grand purpose for my life, and IF He has a plan to make something great out of all the mistakes I’ve made through life, then I can see that there is a reason to move the point of focus from my problems to a search for Him.
That is where He wants to take you and me! His personal promise to us was best stated by the prophet Jeremiah when He said: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope!” Jeremiah 29:11
Two verses further on He promises: “you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”

That is the promise I claimed 47 years ago. My testimony to you this morning friends is that it is true! Make your search for God the number one priority in your life and you will be on the road to happiness and fulfillment beyond your wildest dreams! Have a great day!!
