Reading Through The Bible: Number 4

Reading Through The Bible: Number 4

August 3, 2016 Barry Satchell Comments 0 Comment

My reading of Genesis 1:14-19 which records what God did on the fourth day of creation, raises many questions in the minds of skeptics and so-called wise men.  Those questions do not phase the Bible believing Christian because of a plain statement of God’s word that is found in Isaiah 8:20 “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.”  I understand the “law and the testimony” to refer that which was written in the law of Moses and the testimony of the other Bible prophets.

  Many stumble over the claim that God instantaneously created matter. I don’t. Moses wrote Genesis under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and a correct understanding of the origin of matter will never find a problem with his writings.  This portion of Genesis speaks again to me about God’s orderly process:- day 3 He created vegetation which needed sunshine for photosynthesis, day 4 He filled that need.  Just as Jesus met the needs of the vegetation, He promises to nourish you and me spiritually today. Have a great day with Jesus!

“Moses wrote under the guidance of the Spirit of God, and a correct theory of geology will never claim discoveries that cannot be reconciled with his statements. The idea that many stumble over, that God did not create matter when He brought the world into existence, limits the power of the Holy One of Israel.”  {3SM 307.2}
